Vaginal Dryness

See also:

There are many possible reasons why a female might not produce lubrication, or very much lubrication, during sexual arousal, most of them physiological. These can include a decrease in estrogen which is probably the main reason and can be the case in these situations:

  • Stress/anxiety
  • Sexual guilt/shame (often after an illicit affair)
  • Vaginismus
  • Penetration anxiety
  • Relationship issues
  • After childbirth and while breast feeding
  • Menopause and perimenopause
  • Radiation and chemotherapy
  • Surgical removal of ovaries
  • Cigarette smoking
  • Decreased sexual activity

There are several medical conditions and situations that can cause vaginal dryness, including some medications, and these should be ruled out before undertaking any therapeutic endeavour. It is essential that a client presenting with this issue must have conventional medical consultation to rule out the possibility of organic causes.

The Answer
Assuming that there is no identifiable physical reason for the difficulty and that none of the above apply, the simplest and speediest solution is to use a personal lubricant such as "KY Jelly™" which is readily available in supermarkets and chemists.
