Something's wrong with my parts!
Most of the time, when somebody is certain that there is something wrong with their genitalia, their fears are groundless - sometimes based on what they have seen in films, especially porn films. So here are some statistics which will help to reassure you if you have this problem:
On this site, downloads of photographs of genitalia are available which might help to show you that you are 'normal' - or that something is indeed not right and illustrating the fact that you should speak to to your Doctor. Here are the links for the downloads:
And here are some genitalia-related facts to study:
Male:
- The 'average' flacid (non-erect) penis is sometimes no bigger than a man's thumb and may even be smaller than that, especially in low temperatures
- A penis which is larger than average when flacid will grow less as it becomes erect; a penis that is small when flacid will increase size dramatically as it engorges
- The 'average' erect penis is between five and seven inches long and six inches in circumference - if that sounds big, cut a piece of paper into a six-inch strip and bring the ends together to see what it actually looks like
- Although an erect penis generally has a upward 'slant', many do not and it is in no way an indicator of any importance whatsoever
- From the female's point of view, hard is far more important than big. In fact, a penis that is larger than average, whether in length or girth or both, can cause great discomfort for the female
- Circumcised is generally no more or less effective than intact
- The 'average' amount of fluid a male ejaculates is between one and five ml. - a normal teaspoon is five ml.
- The speed at which a male's penis can become erect is dependent upon a great many factors including age, health and diet. In a young man, it might be only a few seconds from merely an erotic thought; in an older man it might be several minutes and need physical touch.
- The refactory period (the length of time he needs to recover enough to 'go again') tends to increase with age, frequency of ejaculation, length of time since the last ejaculation, and with familiarity of his sexual partner. For a young man with a new and desirable partner it might be as brief as ten minutes between the first two acts of intercourse; for an older man with a familiar partner it can be as long as a week or even longer. Even with an older man, though, the presence of an erotic and unfamiliar stimulus will produce a much faster erection and shorter refactory period
- It is important to note that male 'stars' in porn films are specially selected for their attributes of size, amount they can ejaculate. how long they can sustain and how quickly they can recover to 'go again'
Female:
- Some females can easily achieve several orgasms in succession; some find it impossible to achieve even one. It is extremely unlikely that this has anything to do with the physical aspect of the genitals, though may be a practical problem - see Intercourse Anorgasmia, on this site.
- The physical appearance of female genitals is as variable as those of the male - it is certainly not true that when you've seen one you've seen them all. The outer lips (labia majora) can be full and rounded or slim and close to the rest of the body. The inner lips (labia minora) might be all but invisible until sexual arousal is present and even then might be only just noticeable; on the other hand, they might protrude from the labia majora all the time, often by a noticeable amount. They might look 'frilly' or smooth. None of these differences is important nor, from the male point of view, do they make the female less or more sexy other than by his own personal preferences
- The genitals might change their appearance greatly with sexual arousal becoming noticeably engorged, flushed and wet. This is not necessarily the case, though, and has no bearing on the 'sexiness' or otherwise of the female
- Masturbation, no matter often a female does it, cannot deform the genitals. Masturbation is actually the best way to discover how to achieve the most satisfactory orgasm
- The use of a vibrator or dildo cannot harm the genitals (unless over-sized or handled violently). Such aids can, in fact, greatly help the ability to achieve orgasm
- Achieving orgasm via masturbation on a daily basis cannot harm the ability to achieve orgasm via sexual intercourse - in fact it is likely to enhance it
- Anal sex is not dangerous if the male is gentle, though it is always best to use a lubricant. Penetration by the entire length of the penis is unwise.
- Some females produce copious amounts of vaginal lubrication at even just an erotic thought; others might remain too dry for comfortable penetration until a few moments before the approach of orgasm. If this is a problem, a personal lubricant such as 'KY Jelly' is recommended. Baby oil is also effective but is incompatible with latex condoms
- In general, a female can 'go again' very soon after achieving orgasm; the second orgasm is often more powerful than the first, though is not necessarily so
- Difficulty with receiving an erect penis into the vagina does not usually have a physical cause but is almost always due to Vaginismus - see Female Problems and Penetration Impossible on this site.
