Exhibitionism

The male exhibitionist does not do things by halves - he bares the lot. Sometimes it can appear to be a result of a need to shock, which might be a sublimated urge for dominance. It is extremely rare that a male will seek help for this problem, though less rare that somebody presenting with a sexual difficulty will admit to this sort of behaviour. It can sometimes be very subtle, like 'accidentally' wandering naked into a room where it is totally inappropriate to do so; at other times extraordinarily deliberate like deciding to cycle the length of the country wearing no more than essentials - which will not include any from of covering on the genitalia. Under these circumstances, he is likely to protest vigorously if apprehended, quoting civil freedom and the rights of naturists, maybe even insisting that any problems are in the mind those who have observed him.

This sort of behaviour in the male can sometimes stem from suppressed aggressive tendencies, maybe engendered by events from his earliest years. At almost the other end of the scale it can be merely a quirk of personality where there is a desire to be outrageous and to prove that he does not conform and is therefore not part of the 'establishment'. These are not the only circumstances, though; it is not unusual to discover that there has been a somewhat strict upbringing with rigidly controlling parents and much store placed on respectability and decorum.

The Female exhibitionist will usually not like her body - or at least part of it - very much and may well be seeking approval and validation. She will not necessarily perform a 'streak' and may well just expose her breasts; often she will find it get amusing that she finds it so easy to 'get her tits out'. It is a quite common circumstance that the female exhibitionist is something of an idealist as far as relationships are concerned and will often state that all she really wants is to 'be loved and looked after.' It is entirely possible that her exhibitionistic behaviour is a result of poor self-worth - she shows her feminine assets because she believes she has nothing else worthwhile.

She is usually aware of the profound effect that female nakedness has upon the male psyche and is not unusually disdainful of this, stating that males who ogle naked women are 'sad' and perhaps insisting that they 'need to get a life'. Nonetheless, she will almost always make sure that there is an abundance of males present and also that they are able to get a very clear view of her... and if her body is such that she produces a negative reaction she might well claim that they are doing that merely for the benefit of others and that, in reality, they were lusting after her.

In almost all cases of exhibitionism, male or female, there is little or no wish to resolve the issue, even if it has resulted in court proceedings.

The Solution
If you tend towards this sort of behaviour and would like to resolve the issue, it is important to recognise that it is unlikely to go away on its own, nor is it likely that you will be able to find the cause of the behaviour without help.
