<<< Back Dry EjaculationSee also: Quite often, this is not a dry ejaculation at all but a phenomenon known as retrograde ejaculation. This is sometimes the result of a 'backfire' where the ejaculate reverses along the penis into the bladder. Possible causes are:
It can also happen when little or no semen is being produced - the true 'dry ejaculation'; this may be due to problems with the prostate or seminal vesicles, since these are what produce semen. The most likely source of problems is prostatectomy (surgical removal of the prostate gland). It can sometimes be the result of holding back in an attempt to avoid creating an unwanted pregnancy. This is unreliable as a method of contraception; pre-ejaculatory fluid, which cannot be held back, is certainly capable of inseminating a fertile female. In this case, the ejaculation is not really 'dry' - a normal amount of ejaculate is produced but flows backwards along the penis into the bladder instead of being ejected from the exit; this backward flow can sometimes cause infection.
